At Davines, we’ve always been committed to making beauty as sustainable as possible. That’s why we’re doing everything we can to protect one of the planet’s most precious resources: water.
From green water stored invisibly in plants and in the soil, to the vast blue waters of our oceans, lakes and rivers, water is a precious resource - and one that’s under threat. That’s why, at Davines, we’re working hard to reduce our water usage, as well as to tackle water pollution through the removal of plastic waste from the environment.
1. ECO-DESIGN
Our in-house packaging R&D department uses eco-design principles to minimize the impact of our packaging and facilitate circularity through recycling.
2. PARTNERING WITH PLASTIC BANK
Since 2022, we have been incentivizing the collection of plastic waste by maintaining a 1:1 balance between the plastic used and the amount collected from the environment.
3. OUR 2030 GOALS
Our 2030 goal is to reduce total water consumption in Davines Village by 50% compared to 2023 levels, and to reduce the intensity of water use during production phase per ton of bulk product by 75%.
If plastic is a problem, why still use plastic?
Plastic pollution isn’t the only challenge facing our planet. We’re also doing our best to tackle climate change. Plastic allows for less material usage and less packaging weight, leading to significantly lower CO2eq emissions than other materials. Especially when plastic is recycled or bio-based.
What does eco-design mean?
The term eco-design refers to a set of principles applied to packaging design and development, which reduces its environmental impact. Eco-design considers many aspects such as carbon emission, use of resources, pollution and more.
Who is Plastic Bank?
Plastic Bank is a Canadian for-profit social enterprise that builds recycling ecosystems to fight both plastic pollution in oceans and high poverty levels in developing countries.
