Green tips to make 2023 better for you — and the Earth, too.
Changing the world may seem overwhelming, but at Davines, we believe everyone can contribute by abandoning old habits and acquiring more sustainable ones. We are striving to do our best for the planet, creating effective formulas with high naturality and biodegradability percentages, and following eco-design principles. But there is much more you can do once a Davines product enters your bathroom. Join us on the path to a brighter future: here are 6 (plus one...) simple tips to reduce your hair care impact, starting from January 2023.
When taking care of your hair, please be conscious of the energy in use! Most of the CO2eq emissions related to haircare products come from water heating. So, try to start with a cooler water temperature: warm, but not boiling hot. And remember that while a shower is hopefully a moment of relaxation for you, one that's too long can cause stress on the planet.
While you massage in the shampoo, conditioner, or hair treatment, remember to close the tap and avoid wasting water. Turn the running water on only to rinse, then shut it off immediately.
To save running water, a good solution is using products that do not require rinsing. At Davines, we have several: from a leave-in milk that guarantees long-lasting hair softness and conditioning, to treatments that help repair the hair fiber.
Use the hairdryer at the lowest possible temperature — or even better, if you live in a region where the climate permits, let your hair air dry. There are many Davines products that you can use to improve styling even without using a hairdryer or other hot tools! Discover some popular ones below.
While there are many great air-dried hairstyles, sometimes you'll need to turn to heat styling to achieve your look. Our advice is to use products that can help reduce drying time, facilitate styling and/or other offer thermal protection.
Have you ever tried using a dry shampoo to decrease your washing frequency? We have two great dry shampoo options that can help in situations of need, where the hair is not exactly perfect but can last a while longer.
One of the main ways to fight climate change is to choose renewable energy sources to heat water, from which very little or no CO2eq is emitted. Nowadays, most suppliers offer sustainable options: re-check your contract and make sure it includes only solar, wind, biomass or hydro energy.
Here at Davines we're proud to set a good example: the Parma production plant is powered only by renewable energy.
