Roucou oil comes from the fruit of the achiote, an evergreen shrub native to the Amazon rainforest, sometimes called the lipstick tree because of its vibrant pink flowers and red fruit. Also known as annatto and bixa, roucou oil is harvested from the seeds of this heart-shaped fruit. Roucou oil is one hundred times richer in beta-carotene than carrots, which means lots of vitamin A for a healthy scalp and strong strands.

Roucou oil stimulates the production of melanin, which is responsible for your hair’s color, keeping grays away and frizz at bay. It also contains ellagic acid,which neutralizes free radicals and has antioxidant properties that protect against UV radiation, while stimulating hair growth.
