A Look Inside Davines

Whether you’re new to Davines or just curious, consider this your crash-course in the brand. The education pays off: the more you learn, the better you’ll understand our products—and get more benefits for your hair as a result.

Beauty + Sustainability

We’re proud to say that since 1996, we’ve been at the forefront of creating luxurious haircare products with the highest-quality ingredients. Being a family company has not only allowed us to be hands-on in every aspect of our business, but it also gives us the freedom to focus on our priorities in the beauty space, such as sustainability, biodiversity, and social good. That’s why for more than 20 years, our tagline has been “beauty + sustainability”—for we believe you can’t have one without the other. While we initially set out to be a professional line created for hairstylists and salons, our mission has resonated with many beyond them, which is why you can now find our formulas—which are still designed, formulated, and manufactured in Parma, Italy, as they were at the very beginning—all around the world.

A big part of what makes our products so special is the super-high standard for ingredients. Every hair type, whether you’re working with coily, fine, or color-treated hair, merits its own targeted treatment, which is why we offer so many collections. Hair textures aren’t created equal, so why should your products be?

But though they’re varied, our collections have a few things in common. They’re rich in biodegradable ingredients, for one, which makes them sustainable and thus minimizes waste. And that sustainability and love for the earth is at the heart of the ingredients that go into each one.

Celebrating Biodiversity

For instance, our Essential Haircare products support biodiversity. In fact, each family features an active ingredient at the risk of extinction. You can find Fiaschetto heirloom tomatoes in the NOUNOU collection, where they help soften damaged or chemically-treated hair. MINU, which protects hair color, uses caper blossom extract, while LOVE/smoothing’s formulas are infused with olive extract from Messina, Italy. We’re proud to work with Slow Food Presidia farms to keep heirloom plants thriving and protect our planet’s delicate ecosystems—all while treating hair to the best that nature can offer. And it’s not just what’s inside that counts. We also use the minimum possible amount of food-grade plastic to package these formulas, which minimizes waste and makes them easier to repurpose.

Natural does not mean weak, though, and we’re able to infuse our carefully-sourced, naturally-potent formulas with cutting-edge technology to rebalance hair and treat specific concerns, as is the case with our Naturaltech line. You don’t have to sacrifice clean formulations for efficacy.

Just as important as what goes into our formulas, is what’s left out of them too. It ensures that your hair gets only the best, full stop. And we’re transparent about the ingredients that do make the cut. Curious about keratin? Wondering about hydrolyzed milk proteins? You can get the scoop on our ingredients in our Ingredient Glossary.

That’s why we’re proud to be a certified B Corporation®, which recognizes businesses like ours that sees business as a force for good, balancing profit and purpose. We consider the impact of our business on not only our dedicated customers, but our employees, suppliers, and community at large. We strive for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Crafting natural haircare products is just a part of what we do. Because in our eyes, beauty means more than just healthy hair. It also entails thoughtfully-chosen botanical ingredients, minimizing our impact on the earth, and doing good at every level of our company.
